Spectrum Funds: Your Ideas for Community Improvements

We received $20,800 from Spectrum as a special incentive to renegotiate our contract (which included new cable packages and internet) in 2023/2024.

The Board authorized these funds to be kept separate from reserves & operational budget for one-time improvements to the Association.
Substantial changes or additions to Common Elements may require a Member vote at the AGM.

Some possible ideas to start the discussion (none of these are Board endorsed at this time):
 Gazebo & BBQ area
 Pergola for pool area for shade
 Additional/replacement benches

PLEASE SHARE YOUR IDEAS for potential Community Improvements.

(Note repairs to common elements like buildings etc.. are covered under our existing Reserve Fund plan)

We’d like to suggest creating a dedicated grilling area that’s a bit more substantial than just placing a grill near the pool. I grabbed a few pictures to help illustrate some ideas—especially since we thought we heard someone mention a gazebo as a possibility.

    Grill ideas

    1. Jackie, that is an “outdoor kitchen” in the pictures, and they are very expensive. My daughter has one, and besides the grill area, everything else gets very dirty (counters, drawers, etc.). As I stated at the last meeting, who is going to keep the grill and area clean? We can’t get anyone to volunteer for any committee as it is. Our Property Manager chimed in that another association he manages has to pay monthly to keep it clean and usable. ($600 approx.) I think people would quickly tire of having to transport food back and forth from their condo to any grill area. But thanks for the idea. It would be nice in a different scenario. : )

Painting is already planned and part of our reserve funds.

The spectrum money is for something ‘nee’ or improved

One thing we are very low on at the pool is chairs. We used to have 12 chairs. We are not anywhere near that now. People are constantly moving chairs from one corner to another to be in the shade and or the sun. The damaged chairs should be repaired or replaced.

    1. This has been taken care of. Restrapped furniture, new umbrellas and ordering an additional table, chairs, umbrella and stand.
